Meet Our Cantor

Jen Cohen was born in Easton, Pa., and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Yale University, with a B.A. in East Asian Studies and Japanese. Leaving Japanese for music, she moved to Nashville, Tenn., and toured the U.S., playing universities and clubs and recording two CDs, leading to nominations for Campus Entertainer of the Year three years running.

With a love of Jewish music and fascinating experiences in volunteer and interfaith work while in Nashville, her life took an exciting turn, and she entered the H.L. Miller Cantorial School at The Jewish Theological Seminary in Manhattan where she’s currently a fifth-year student, combining her pop music background with the traditional melodies of the synagogue to create a new style of hazzanut.

As legendary singer-songwriter Janis Ian has said, "In my next life, I'm coming back with Jen Cohen's voice."
