Jill Hammel
Jill has been part of the TBS family since 1987. She considers Temple Beth Sholom her “spiritual” home away from home since she has celebrated so many life cycle events here! These include Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, and marriage to her husband Geoff. She feels blessed that her 3 young daughters, Dara, Ava and Zoe, are starting to build their own Jewish foundations here, as well, at the TBS preschool and religious school.
After more than 2 decades, Temple Beth Sholom continues to be a central fixture in Jill’s religious, social, and family life. She is currently chairperson of the TBS Young Members’ Group, as well as the TBS Preschool Home and School Association. She also enjoys actively participating on the Preschool Board. Since Jill is an elementary and special education teacher, she is thrilled that she is able to leverage her experience in connecting with young families.
In addition, Jill was a member of the gift solicitation team for the TBS “Why It Matters” Capital Campaign. She was so proud to be asked to join in the efforts for this important project, as she has such a significant history with the synagogue, as well as hopefulness for TBS’ bright future.
One of Jill’s most memorable & meaningful experiences at TBS was participating in the 2010-2011 Presidents’ Leadership Institute under the direction of Rabbi Peltz. She looks forward to continuing her Jewish journey here at TBS!
Jill was extremely honored to receive a 2011 Temple Beth Sholom Service Award, and she is committed to continuing her enthusiastic role at the synagogue!
