Decorum During Services

We greet you and hope that your visit with us will be a spiritual and educational experience.

To help you feel "at home" and to help us maintain the atmosphere of devotion worthy of a house of G-d, we would appreciate your cooperation in the following:

  • Smoking and photography are not permitted anywhere on the premises or on the grounds around the building during the Sabbath and Holy Days.
  • On the Sabbath and on Holy Days, please do not use the telephones in our building, except in the case of an emergency.
  • We request that all males wear head coverings, and that adult Jewish males wear a tallit (prayer shawl). All women should be modestly dressed; covered shoulders, dresses which are minimally at knee length.
  • Temple Beth Sholom hopes that all guests, especially children, display behavior appropriate for a house of worship and respect for the premises.
  • We love children at our services, but please be sure that your youngsters' behavior is suitable for the synagogue. For your comfort and convenience, a portion of the Helman Auditorium, just under the balcony on the Rabbi's side of the sanctuary, will be open for seating. If your child's attention span begins to falter, this section will provide easy access to an exit.
  • Friday night services begin at 6:15 pm and end around 7:30 pm. Saturday morning services begin at 9:30 am and conclude at approximately 12:30 pm.
  • Please wait until after services to greet relatives, to socialize and to extend best wishes.
