Visiting the Sick

Alvin Stern

We at TBS make a regular habit of saying a special prayer for those who are ill (a MiSheBerach prayer) when we read the Torah on Monday and Thursday mornings and on Shabbat and holidays. Below is a coupon that you may complete to let us know whom to include in our prayers.

It is considered one of the mitzvot to visit those who are ill (Bichur Cholim, a lesson we learn when the three angels visit Abraham in his tent following his circumcision. Visitors can bring cheer, hope and comfort to those in pain and alone either in the hospital or at home.

Rabbi Lindemann has obtained booklets, produced by the Rabbinical Assembly, which contain psalms and prayers for use by those who are ill. These booklets can be very comforting during difficult personal times. The booklets are available through the synagogue office, and may be taken to the person who is ill.

MiSheBerach for Cholim

On Shabbat morning, we recite a MiSheBerach for the sick using names submitted on this form. The name will be recited for only one month following our receipt of the form. If the name is to be included beyond that time, please complete a new coupon. If the name can be removed from the list at an earlier time, please call Iris at the TBS Office, or call

Alvin Stern at 424-4145.
