Rabbinical Search
Rabbinical Search
Dear TBS Family,
As we shared on Rosh Hashanah, TBS is thriving. Our membership is now over 930 families, the enrollment in all of our schools is up, and the scope of our educational and social programs has expanded like never before. Our Strategic Plan, completed in September 2023, envisioned us building towards this growth, and we are excited to announce an important step forward.
In order to better serve our growing community, we are launching a search for an additional Assistant Rabbi. This will allow us to keep our large synagogue feeling small and ensure thoughtful planning for the near-term and longer-term needs of our congregation and for our clergy’s future. Michele Golkow, a past TBS president, will be chairing the search committee.
We have an amazing clergy team at TBS. Rabbi Peltz, Cantor Cohen and Rabbi Lindemann are settled here, and Rabbi Wexler, like our talented Associate Rabbis before him, is being recruited for Senior Rabbi positions around the country. We have made clear to him that we would like him to stay at TBS, and we also understand and support him should he choose to advance in the tradition of past TBS Associate Rabbis. Our search for an additional Assistant Rabbi now ensures continuity should Rabbi Wexler take that next step and decide to accept an opportunity that is right for him.
TBS has a long history of attracting the best graduates from JTS, and we look forward to welcoming a new member to our clergy. We’re being strategic about timing. The Conservative Movement currently has smaller rabbinical school classes, so starting our search now gives us the best opportunity to find the right match for our community – whether that is this year or next year.
As the search progresses, we will be working closely with the Board of Directors and other lay leaders, and we will keep you posted on our website at www.tbsonline.org/rabbinicsearch. There will be opportunities to meet candidates and share feedback. We appreciate your input and partnership in continuing to meet the needs of our growing community. We are blessed to be part of such a wonderful and thriving synagogue.
L'Shalom,
