Jews in American Social Activism
What is it about the Jewish experience that draws us as a community to actively work to make this world a better place? This talk focuses on the Jewish immigrant experience and how it has shaped Jewish identity, particularly through the centrality of Social Activism. Jonathan Goldstein, Founder and CEO of ciceronetravel.com, will focus on HIAS and the Henry Street Settlement, drawing a straight line from the immigrant experience to today's Jewish activism in areas including Black Lives Matter, global warming, family reunification at ICE detention centers, and more. The fundamental question to be discussed:  What is it about the Jewish experience that draws us as a community to so actively work to make this world a better place?
