Security Update

Ron Safier, Executive Director

Relationships are vital when it comes to strong security protocols, especially during times like this when antisemitism is on the rise. There are numerous aspects to our security measures, for both cyber security and physical security, and the relationships that we have with local law enforcement, certain vendors, and our neighbors, are all part of our security plan. Yes, we have all the necessary “target hardening” components in place – the bollards and planters, the interior and exterior cameras, the protective film on glass doors and windows, the door entry system, etc. But relationships are also extremely important.

Our I.T. services provider, OmniComp, has been very instrumental in not only assisting with our physical security measures such as our camera system and door entry system, but also with our cyber security measures including the implementation of various I.T. protocols and cutting-edge technology to mitigate any potential fraud attempts against the synagogue. The Cherry Hill Police Department, and JFED Security, have been critical to our security plan by not only providing us with the necessary security personnel that are needed here on a daily basis, in addition to Bob, but by also providing daily patrols and assisting with various trainings and drills to prepare our faculty, staff, and congregation for action that needs to be taken during worst case scenarios. And we also have plans in place with Chabad next door to provide shelter should we ever need to evacuate the building. Our community relationships are strong and critical.

Last week I wrote about the importance of continuing to show up for Israel during this current crisis, and the importance of continuing to show up for TBS to help fund basic operations. You can do both by contributing to the TBS Stands with Israel Fund to show our unwavering support for Israel, and by contributing to the TBS Security Fund to help offset our security costs. Regardless of which fund you choose, we are grateful. Both are especially important right now.  To make a contribution, click here to visit our donations page.

Wishing you a safe and happy new year, a Shabbat Shalom and I look forward to seeing you in shul. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can always reach out to me at rons@tbsonline.org or (856) 751-6663 x218.
